The Beach: week 1

Last summer we started our routine of going to the beach once a week. It seems to be a big hit, the kids really enjoy it, and it really wears them out. Wednesday is the day we have choosen for this summer so I will be making a weekly beach report for all that are interested.
Today was one of those days God created secifically for going to the beach! The Sun was shining, there was a light breeze, and since it was the middle of the week there was hardly anyone else there. The kids had fun swimming, and using the plastic sand shovel to pick up jelly fish. They cought a dozen jelly fish (not that the JF put up much of a fight). They were very upset when I informed them we would not be taking them home. Joey stepped on a sharp shell early and decided to spend his time on the beach running back and forth between our cabana and the park.
I thought I may have left the kids at the beach and brought home Lobsters instead, but soon realized that despite the sunblock everyone managed to get a little burned. By the end of the summer I am sure they will all be nice and tanned.
As planned every one was tuckered out. Slept on the way home and were pretty quite this evening. I have posted the pictures, hope you enjoy.

  3. My sister and I used to do that "sand blob" thing, only we called it "mud monsters." Isn't it amazing that kids all tend to have the same ideas at the beach? I need to take my kids. They've never been.

  4. That looks like so much fun! I wish I had been there. :(
Marcia, he takes them to the beach at Rockport. It is the perfect family beach.

It does cost $10 annually, but it is a manmade beach, and for at least a mile or more it doesn't get any deeper than about 1.5-2 feet. Also consequently has very small waves. It has kid geared play ground equipment every 1/4 mile or so along the beach as well. We love it!

  5. Thanks for the comments, I don't check everyday so I might bot respond right away. Julie it is heavenly. Amanda you do need to get those kids to the beach, and Marcia we LOVE the Rockport Beach. A bit of a drive, but well worth it. Like Liz said it stays very shallow, and the water never gets rough. They have several playgrounds, beach showers, indoor restroom with showers. It's great. We used go to Bob Hall Pier on the island, and that is still my favorite beach but with small kids Rockport is hard to beat. And Finally Liz, I also wish you were there.

  6. Amanda, coming to the beach in Corpus is a great spur of the moment day trip. We used to do it fairly regularly when we lived up there. You could eat dinner with us afterwards, too. ;)
